Yesterday was awesome! I had the opportunity to teach at all the services (4) at West Ridge. I don’t think I have ever been more exhausted by the end of the day! Teaching that many times is fun as can be, but it is draining like nothing else. We ended our series “Map Quest” with the thought of approaching the scriptures through the passion of those who first wrote it, read it and heard it. I enjoy learning and teaching from a cultural and contextual background to the scriptures and watching people as they explore the scripture through this lens for the first time. I believe it brings so much life and a fullness to the pictures that that scriptures often give us. You can listen to it – HERE.
A special note for those who asked: A lot of what I learned came from friends, books and studies that I have taken part in or with over the past few years. Special thanks to all of you who have played a part in growing and helping me learn in this process. (Steve, Jim, Paul, Ellis, Mitch) You can look at my book list to use as a resource for some things I have read and also a great web site or resource to use is – www.followtherabbi.com

two things i love about you.
1. you are a true teacher. most people would be worn out by 4 services – but not a teacher! i track with you. teaching leaves you exhausted, but it fills your tank. thats because its what you were created to do.
2. you give credit. 99% of teachers forget or are too insecure to tell people what wells they are drinking from. but it helps our learners know how to go further when we share where we ourselves are learning.
oh, yeah, and your talk was good too…

I am ashamed, because I did not include you my friend and rabbi. For everyone else – Matt Willmington is an incredible sources and amazing mentor of mine!
